"Be All That You Can Be"

We are at war.  We are at war with an enemy who is set to “steal, kill, and destroy” us every day.  And every day we have a decision to make:  will I go to war today?

Peter writes in his first letter “your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  The enemy is out there devouring the youth with the temptations and attractions of this world.  The pressures of fitting in, looking, acting, and talking a certain way, along with TV, movies, magazines, and music all are weapons used against the youth.  Anyone fighting in this war must be equipped for the battles in front of them.

This year at Bennington Bible Church K-Life we want to “Be all that you can be”.  Using the chapter Colossians 3, we will be facing this war as we study the traps and tactics of the enemy as well as our own armor and defense weapons.  Throughout the year we plan on producing more units, or small groups, to give kids a chance to surround themselves with fellow soldiers as they strengthen and encourage one another in their personal battles.  We, as the church body, have now committed ourselves to caring for, training, developing, maturing, and preparing our youth for the ongoing war.  Our goal and vision is to produce youth, soldiers for Christ, that will go out with the knowledge to fight the war and to recruit others that are being devoured by the other side and guide them to Christ’s side.

We will be developing this theme and vision throughout the year in our club talks, games, videos, and small group Bible studies.  Incorporated in the vision will be topics of unity in the body of believers, the benefit of spiritual disciplines, setting spiritual goals, and “training” alongside brothers and sisters in Christ.  We would love nothing more than the kids of Bennington Bible Church K-Life to discover the war that is out there as they strive to “be all that they can be” for Christ.  We want to see them fall in love with the Savior and then commit themselves to being soldiers…disciples of Jesus Christ.
